Seo-Yoon is an Epic-rarity Marksman hero with the Growth subclass, belonging to Generation 1 — meaning she is available from server launch (Day 0). Despite her Epic rarity, she delivers two high-value skills that remain relevant well into mid-game progression: a competitive troop attack buff for rallies and a healing speed bonus that accelerates infirmary recovery during active conflict periods.

The Growth subclass means one of her two Expedition skills focuses on city development rather than direct combat. Players who understand this trade-off — and invest in her accordingly — extract significantly more value from Seo-Yoon than those who dismiss her as a filler hero.


How to Unlock Seo-Yoon

Seo-Yoon becomes available after reaching Furnace Level 6. She can be obtained through:

Unlocking her requires 10 shards. Ascending her from unlock to 5 Stars requires a total of 1,065 shards — the standard cost for all Epic heroes.

Note on Home & Beyond: Some sources list this event as a reliable source of free Seo-Yoon shards on Day 4; others report she is obtainable only through Recruitment. Treat the event as a potential bonus rather than a guaranteed unlock path, as availability appears to differ across server versions.


Skill Overview

Epic heroes have a fixed structure of 3 Exploration Skills and 2 Expedition Skills. Exploration skills are active in Exploration, Arena, and Hero's Journey. Expedition skills are active in world map battles, rallies, and Polar Terror hunts.

Skill levels are capped by star level. Reaching Star Level 4 is required to unlock the maximum skill level (Level 5) for all five skills.


Exploration Skills

These skills govern Seo-Yoon's performance in PvE Exploration content and the Arena.

Skill 1 — Heartbeat of Valor

Unlocks at Star 0

A dual-stat active buff that increases both Attack and Attack Speed for a fixed duration of 4 seconds.

Because the buff persists rather than expiring, Gale's Pulse compounds over the course of longer battles. The trigger condition (every 3 basic attacks) is mechanical rather than time-based, so it is not subject to a cooldown in the traditional sense.


Expedition Skills

These skills are active in world map combat, rallies, and Polar Terror hunts. They are the primary reason Seo-Yoon is valued in mid-game progression.

Gear

Seo-Yoon equips the standard Marksman gear set:

  • Marksman Goggles — primary source of Marksman Lethality and Hero Attack
  • Marksman Gauntlets
  • Marksman Belt
  • Marksman Boots — secondary source of Hero Attack and Marksman stats

Gear provides bonuses to Hero Attack, Hero Defense, Hero Health, Escort Attack, Escort Health, and Marksman-specific stats. Marksman gear cannot be equipped by Infantry or Lancer heroes.

Epic heroes do not have a fifth exclusive gear slot — that slot is reserved for Mythic/SSR heroes only.

Gear priority: Community guidance generally prioritizes Goggles and Boots first, as these pieces carry the highest Marksman Lethality and Hero Attack density. This reflects gear stat distributions rather than a game-enforced rule.

For players in active alliances participating in rallies and Bear Trap events, Rallying Beat is the priority target. Getting Seo-Yoon to Star Level 4 unlocks Rallying Beat at its maximum level (25% troop attack buff), which is the threshold most alliance rosters target.

Soothing Dance levels up alongside Rallying Beat and provides compounding value as conflict frequency increases infirmary demand.

Exploration Skills Second

Exploration skill investment is worthwhile for players progressing through higher Exploration stages or competing in Arena. Gale's Pulse (Skill 3) benefits most from levelling, as its compounding nature makes each percentage point of attack speed accumulate across a battle's duration. Heartbeat of Valor and Bullseye Bash scale linearly and contribute to overall output but are secondary to Expedition development for most playstyles.


Role in Team Compositions

Skill Requirements for Rallies

Launching a rally requires a minimum formation of one Marksman hero, one Infantry hero, and one Lancer hero. This is a core game mechanic applicable to all players, not specific to Seo-Yoon.

Rally Joiner vs. Rally Leader

Community consensus positions Seo-Yoon as a rally joiner rather than a rally leader for PvP. Her Soothing Dance skill provides no combat advantage, and her overall kit is not optimised for the rally-leader role that dedicated combat heroes fill. As a joiner, however, Rallying Beat contributes its full 25% troop attack bonus to the rally regardless of who leads.

Healing Support

Seo-Yoon's value as a healing speed contributor is most apparent during sustained PvP periods — Bear Traps, State Wars, alliance conflicts — when infirmary queues back up and the rate of troop recovery affects how quickly a player can re-deploy. Stationing her in the hero lineup (not specifically in combat) is sufficient for Soothing Dance to apply.

Upgrading each skill from Level 1 to Level 5 requires 165 Epic Skill Manuals total per skill (10 for Level 2, 30 for Level 3, 50 for Level 4, 75 for Level 5). Seo-Yoon uses:
