Whiteout Survival: Gina Guide [2026]
How to Get Her, Best Skills, and Optimal Use Cases
Who Is Gina?
Gina is an Epic rarity Marksman hero (Combat subclass, Generation 1) and one of the most recommended heroes for free-to-play players in Whiteout Survival. Her value is almost entirely tied to her Expedition skills: she reduces stamina costs on Beast hunting marches and dramatically increases Wilderness March Speed — making her a cornerstone of efficient Beast and Polar Terror farming.
That specialisation cuts both ways. Because her expedition skills provide no troop combat buffs, Gina is widely considered the wrong choice for PvP rallies or Bear Hunt. She belongs in your Beast-hunting lineup, not your war team.
How to Unlock Gina
Gina is not available through standard Hero Hall recruitment. She is unlocked by collecting 10 Gina Shards, which are earned almost exclusively through the Gina's Revenge limited-time event.
Important: Gina's Revenge is only available until Season 4 (server age). Players on newer servers should prioritise this event while it remains accessible.
Gina's Revenge Event — How It Works
The event runs for 3 days and centres on a special map boss: the Berserk Cryptid.
Step 1 — Get Horns of the Cryptid Defeat standard Beasts on the state map during the event. Each kill has a reported high chance of dropping a Horn of the Cryptid. Horns do not expire when the event ends — you can save and use them to summon Berserk Cryptids after the event closes.
Key tip: Once you've completed the 10-rally mission (see below), stop spending stamina on Cryptids for the remainder of the event. Instead, keep hunting Beasts to stock up on Horns — Horns can only drop during the event window, but can be used at any time afterward.
Step 2 — Summon and Rally a Berserk Cryptid Use a Horn to spawn a Berserk Cryptid on the map. The boss has 8,100 power and disappears after 90 minutes if not defeated. It can only be attacked via rallies, not solo marches.
Step 3 — Earn Gina Shards
- Starting a rally: 2–4 Gina Shards per rally started
- Joining a rally: 1 Gina Shard per join (up to 50 joins per day; joining costs 0 stamina)
- Event mission: 10 Gina Shards for starting 10 rallies (rallies do not need to succeed)
Stamina cost to start a rally: 25 stamina base (reduced to 20 if Gina is included in the march and her Endurance Training is at Level 5).
Maximising Your Join Rate — Auto Join
Enable Auto Join via Alliance → Wars → Auto Join to automatically participate in alliance members' Cryptid rallies, including while offline. Since joins cost 0 stamina and are capped at 50 per day, this passively accumulates shards with no active effort required.
Rally Rewards Beyond Shards
Berserk Cryptid rallies yield meaningful resources in addition to shards. Based on community-reported data, rewards are approximately:
| Role | Gina Shards | Hero EXP | Speedups | Meat | Wood | Coal | Iron |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rally Starter | 2–4 | 5× 1k | 10× 1m | 150k | 150k | 30k | 7.5k |
| Rally Joiner | 1 | 1× 1k | 1–2× 1m | 15k | 15k | 3k | 750k |
These reward values are drawn from a single community source and should be treated as approximate. Resource amounts may vary by server generation or event iteration.
Additional Shard Sources
At Generation 4, the Hero's Mission event allows exchanging Horn of the Cryptid and Scattered Parts for Gina Shards at a 1:1 ratio — a catch-up mechanism for players who missed earlier event windows.
Fully ascended players can also convert excess Horns to Hunter Pouches via Cryptid Exchange (1:1 rate). This is generally considered poor value compared to continuing Berserk Cryptid rallies; only worth doing if you specifically need stamina items.
Star Ascension Costs
Once Gina is unlocked, ascending her star level requires additional shards. The figures below reflect the standard Epic hero shard system:
| Star Level | Shards Required | Cumulative Total |
|---|---|---|
| Unlock | 10 | 10 |
| ★1 | 10 | 20 |
| ★2 | 40 | 60 |
| ★3 | 115 | 175 |
| ★4 | 300 | 475 |
| ★5 (Max) | 600 | 1,075 |
These values reflect community-reported data for the Epic hero shard system. Treat the cumulative totals as reliable planning figures, though minor variances are possible.
Skills
Gina has 3 Exploration Skills (active in Exploration mode and Arena) and 2 Expedition Skills (active in rallies and marches on the world map). Exploration skills require Epic Exploration Skill Manuals; Expedition skills require Epic Expedition Skill Manuals. Each skill costs 0 / 10 / 30 / 50 / 75 manuals across Levels 1–5 (165 manuals total to max a single skill).
Skill levels are gated by star level — to reach Skill Level 5, Gina must be at Star Level 4.
Exploration Skills
These skills are only active in Exploration mode and Arena. They do not affect Beast hunting or expedition performance.
Skill 1 — Incendiary Arrow
Deals a burst of damage to the primary target and nearby enemies.
| Level | Primary Target Damage | Nearby Enemy Damage |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 210% | 70% |
| 2 | 230% | 77% |
| 3 | 250% | 84% |
| 4 | 270% | 91% |
| 5 | 290% | 98% |
Skill 2 — Windtalker
Increases Gina's Attack Speed.
| Level | Attack Speed Bonus |
|---|---|
| 1 | +10% |
| 2 | +15% |
| 3 | +20% |
| 4 | +25% |
| 5 | +30% |
Skill 3 — Eagle Eyes
Increases Gina's Critical Rate.
| Level | Critical Rate Bonus |
|---|---|
| 1 | +7% |
| 2 | +10% |
| 3 | +13% |
| 4 | +16% |
| 5 | +20% |
Expedition Skills
These skills only apply to rallies and marches that Gina personally leads or joins. They are not account-wide buffs.
Skill 1 — Endurance Training
Reduces the stamina cost of rallies and marches.
| Level | Stamina Reduction |
|---|---|
| 0 | 10% |
| 1 | 12% |
| 2 | 14% |
| 3 | 16% |
| 4 | 18% |
| 5 | 20% |
Source note: Some community guides list six progression tiers (Levels 0–5), with a base unlock value of 10% rising to 20% at max. Others list only five values (10/12/15/18/20%), apparently omitting the Level 0 base entry. The six-tier progression is used here. The max value of 20% is consistent across all sources.
At Level 5, this reduces the Berserk Cryptid rally start cost from 25 to 20 stamina.
Skill 2 — Quick Paced
Increases Wilderness March Speed.
| Level | March Speed Bonus |
|---|---|
| 1 | +20% |
| 2 | +40% |
| 3 | +60% |
| 4 | +80% |
| 5 | +100% |
Base Expedition Stats
As a Generation 1 Epic Marksman hero, Gina provides the following base expedition bonuses. These are not from skills — they apply to all Gen 1 Epic Marksman heroes and are always active when Gina is in the march:
- Marksman Attack: +110.08%
- Marksman Defense: +110.08%
Max-Level Hero Stats (Exploration)
At full development, Gina's Exploration stats are:
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Hero Attack | 2,157 |
| Hero Defense | 2,220 |
| Hero Health | 13,320 |
Skill Upgrade Priority
Because Gina's expedition performance is what makes her valuable, most players prioritise her Expedition skills before her Exploration skills. Within that, the general community consensus leans toward:
- Endurance Training (Expedition 1) — even modest levels reduce stamina drain meaningfully; Level 5 delivers the rally cost reduction to 20 stamina
- Quick Paced (Expedition 2) — Level 5 doubles your Wilderness March Speed, dramatically cutting travel time between beast hunts
- Exploration skills — lower priority unless you actively use Gina in Exploration or Arena content
Skill upgrade priority is a matter of player strategy rather than a fixed game mechanic. Your server's event cadence and stamina regeneration rate may shift this calculus.
When to Use Gina (and When Not To)
Use Gina for:
- Beast hunting and all Wilderness stamina-dependent march activity
- Gina's Revenge event — including her in rally starts reduces stamina cost from 25 to 20 at max skill
- Polar Terror and other expedition-based events where march speed matters
Do NOT use Gina for:
- PvP rallies — her expedition skills offer zero troop combat buffs; using her in a war rally actively displaces a hero with a more useful skill
- Bear Hunt — same reason; other heroes provide meaningful troop buffs that Gina does not
This distinction is one of the most commonly misunderstood aspects of Gina's kit. The expedition skills look powerful on paper — and they are — but only in the specific context they're designed for. Using the wrong hero in a rally slot can actively reduce overall rally performance for your alliance.
Obtaining Skill Manuals
Epic Skill Manuals (both Exploration and Expedition variants) can be obtained from:
- Gem purchases
- Hero Recruitment
- VIP Shop and VIP Rewards
- Intel Missions
- Event Rewards
Maxing all five skills requires 825 manuals total (165 per skill × 5 skills). Plan your manual spending carefully if Gina is not your primary combat hero.
