Whiteout Survival Gina's Revenge Guide [2026] — Max Your Shards

Gina's Revenge is the primary source of Gina shards. Here's exactly how to play the event for maximum shard output every single time it runs.

What Gina's Revenge Is

Gina's Revenge is a recurring limited-time event, typically running about 3 days, where players hunt Beasts on the world map for Horns of the Cryptid, then use those horns to summon Berserk Cryptids. Berserk Cryptids are alliance rally targets that drop Gina Shards along with substantial resources and speedups.

The event is the principal pre–Generation 4 source of Gina Shards. Once a state reaches Generation 4 (also referred to in some communities as Season 4 or Hero Generation 4), Gina's Revenge is replaced by Hero's Mission. Hero's Mission's primary rewards are Mythic hero shards, but it retains a 1:1 conversion path that lets you redeem any remaining Horns of the Cryptid for Gina Shards.

Core Mechanics

Mechanic Value
Event duration ~3 days
Berserk Cryptid power 8,100
Despawn timer (after summon) 90 minutes
Rally initiation cost 25 Chief Stamina
Rally cost with Gina's stamina reduction active 20 Chief Stamina
Daily participant reward cap 50 joined rallies
Horn collection cap None
Horn expiration Does not expire

Three non-numerical rules drive most of the strategy:

  • Berserk Cryptids cannot be soloed. Defeating one requires an alliance rally; there is no individual attack option.
  • Summoning consumes the Horn regardless of outcome. If the Cryptid despawns after 90 minutes without being defeated, the Horn is spent and the rally rewards do not pay out.
  • Horns persist past the event. Unspent Horns remain in your backpack (Other tab) and can be used to summon Berserk Cryptids after Gina's Revenge ends.

Stamina Reduction (Gina in the March)

When Gina is included in the rally march with her Endurance Training expedition skill active at maximum effect, the rally initiation cost is 20 Chief Stamina instead of 25 — a 20% reduction.

That 5-stamina saving compounds across an event. At, say, 10 self-initiated rallies per day across 3 days, the discount returns roughly 150 stamina — enough for several additional rallies depending on your recovery setup. If you've already developed Gina's Endurance Training, the only thing required to capture this discount is keeping her in the rally march.

Items & Resources

Horn of the Cryptid. Consumable summoning item. Drops as loot from Beasts during the event. Stored in Backpack → Other tab. Does not expire after the event ends, and is not capped during collection.

Gina Shards. Hero unlock and ascension currency. Sources during the event:

  • Initiating a successful Berserk Cryptid rally: 2–4 shards (guaranteed)
  • Joining a successful alliance Berserk Cryptid rally: 1 shard (chance-based, capped at 50 reward-eligible joins per day)
  • Event mission for initiating 10 rallies: 10 shards
  • Post–Generation 4: 1:1 exchange of Horns for shards via Hero's Mission

After Gina's Revenge is replaced by Hero's Mission, Epic General Hero Shards may also substitute for Gina Shards in ascension under general hero progression rules — though Gina-specific applicability isn't fully confirmed.

Hunter Pouch. Loot container that drops from Beasts during the event. Contents include Gems, Chief Stamina, General Speedups, and Hero EXP. Specific drop probabilities aren't currently verifiable and aren't reproduced here.

Rewards Per Successful Kill

Initiator Participant
Gina Shards 2–4 (guaranteed) 1 (chance-based)
Meat 150,000 15,000
Wood 150,000 15,000
Coal 30,000 3,000
Iron 7,500 (see note)
Hero EXP (1k) 5x 1x
General Speedup (1m) 10x 1–2x

The participant Iron value isn't currently verifiable — published figures differ by three orders of magnitude (a typographical artefact in one figure is the likely explanation). The strategy below doesn't depend on this number.

Event Mission

A standing event mission awards 10 Gina Shards for initiating 10 Berserk Cryptid rallies. The completion criterion appears to be initiation rather than victory, meaning a despawned Cryptid still counts toward the mission. Since defeated Cryptids drop shards, resources, and speedups, you should structure rallies to actually win them regardless — but you don't need to fear "wasting" a mission slot on a doubtful summon.

Gina Ascension Costs

Unlocking Gina takes 10 shards. Maxing her star level takes another 1,065 shards across five ascension tiers:

To ascend to... Shards required (per step)
Star 1 10
Star 2 40
Star 3 115
Star 4 300
Star 5 (max) 600

Total from zero to max: 1,075 shards.

For context, even at the high end of initiator yield (4 shards per kill, ignoring participant rewards and the event mission), that's roughly 270 successful self-initiated rallies — a multi-event grind. Realistic mixed yields put it well above that.

Strategy: Maximizing Shard Output

The core decision space is how to allocate stamina between Beast hunts (which generate Horns) and rally initiations (which spend a Horn plus 20–25 stamina to mint shards directly). The following levers govern total output.

Bring Gina in your rally march if she's developed. With Endurance Training active, every initiated rally costs 5 less stamina. Across an event with 25–40 self-initiated rallies, that's roughly 5–8 free rallies of headroom — and it's automatic once the configuration is set. Until Endurance Training is developed, this lever isn't available; early-grind players pay the full 25.

Auto-Join everything eligible up to the daily participant cap. Participant rewards include a chance at 1 shard plus resources and speedups, and the cap is 50 reward-eligible joins per day. Reaching the cap during peak alliance hours is non-trivial but worth aiming for; the per-rally yield is small but the daily cap is substantial.

Clear the 10-rally event mission early. Ten free shards for behaviour you'd be doing anyway. Initiate your first 10 rallies in the opening day or two so the bonus lands while you still have plenty of event time left.

Coordinate before summoning. A summoned Cryptid burns the Horn whether or not it's defeated. Avoid summoning during low-activity windows (overnight, work hours) unless you have a confirmed rally crew lined up. Pinging the alliance chat before each summon is low-cost insurance against the 90-minute clock running out on a half-filled rally.

Hit the 50-rally participant cap each day rather than packing it into one push. Daily caps reset and don't carry over. Smoothing participation across the event captures more reward instances than sporadic pushes.

Hoarding Horns Past the Event

Because Horns don't expire, some players treat the event window as a Horn-collection phase and the post-event window as a Horn-spending phase. The argument: during the event, stamina is the binding constraint (Beast hunts and rally initiations both spend it), so spending stamina exclusively on Horn drops during the event maximises Horn inventory; afterward, stamina freed up by the event's conclusion can be spent on rallies at leisure.

This is reported player behaviour rather than a verified mechanical optimisation, and the trade-offs are real. Deferring rallies past the event window forfeits the 2–4 shards per initiation during the event itself, and the 10-rally event mission must still be cleared during the event to claim its 10 shards. The approach is defensible for players prioritising flexibility, less so for players trying to maximise per-event shard yield.

Generation 4 Transition: Hero's Mission

Once a state reaches Generation 4, Gina's Revenge is replaced by Hero's Mission. Hero's Mission rotates between Mythic heroes (Philly, Greg, Ahmose, and others) with Mythic-tier shards as the primary reward. For Gina specifically:

  • Existing Horns of the Cryptid can be exchanged 1:1 for Gina Shards. This is the principal post–Generation 4 path for finishing Gina's ascension.
  • After Gina reaches maximum ascension, surplus Horns may be converted to Hunter Pouches at the Cryptid Exchange. This conversion path is reported but not officially documented.

If you anticipate hitting Generation 4 during or shortly after a Gina's Revenge event, banking Horns into the transition is a viable approach — the 1:1 exchange floors the value of an unspent Horn at one Gina Shard.

Recent Updates (March 2026)

The 2 March 2026 update added two quality-of-life improvements relevant to this event:

World map search bar for event bosses. When holding multiple summoning items, players can use the search bar to locate event bosses on the map (Berserk Cryptids during Gina's Revenge, equivalent targets during Hero's Mission). This noticeably reduces the friction of finding a summoned Cryptid in a crowded state.

Auto-Join button (Polar Terror). Added to the bottom right of the Polar Terror search bar. The patch notes bundle this change with the Gina's Revenge / Hero's Mission search improvement, but the Auto-Join button itself is documented specifically for Polar Terror; whether equivalent functionality applies directly to Berserk Cryptid summons isn't separately confirmed in the official notes.

Both improvements meaningfully reduce operational overhead — particularly for participants relying on Auto-Join across overlapping events and initiators tracking summons across a busy state map.
